TUNE IN JOY
The easiest way to tune in joy is to do what you’re doing right this
very second: listen to the radio. When researchers randomly checked
the moods of volunteers throughout their day, they discovered that
64 percent of the people who listened to music felt positive and upbeat,
while their quieter peers were more likely to feel irritated, angry
or bored. Researchers say you can get the same lift in mood whether
the music is playing in the background or you’re actively listening
to it.

SEX DRINKING
It’s a question every man asks himself, “How many drinks should I
have before sex?” Too few, and you have too many inhibitions. Too
many, and there’s a good chance you’ll experience equipment failure
in the sack. According to doctors of sexual medicine, you should have
no more than one or two drinks for optimum performance; too much alcohol
can act as a depressant and inhibit the orgasmic reflex.

BURGLAR DOGS
Want your house to be safe while you’re gone? Don’t get a big dog.
A 100-pound Rottweiler or German shepherd might look scary, but burglars
know better. Most big breeds, unless they are trained as guard dogs,
aren’t barkers. What you want are “yappers,” small dogs that make
a lot of noise. Breeds such as Chihuahuas are better deterrents than
large dogs.

FEMALE BOSS SICKNESS
Your female boss may be making you sick. University of Toronto
researchers report that women with female bosses are more stressed
out than women
whose bosses are male. And they’re more likely to have insomnia,
headaches, depression, and heartburn.

RECESSION DIETING
Your New Year’s resolution may have been to lose weight, but the
tough economic times may keep you fat. Doctors are worried that their
overweight patients will not lose weight simply because junk food
is cheaper than healthy food. And financial problems can be so distracting,
people can’t keep to their healthier diets.

NAP SOLUTION
According to recent research, short naps are the best way to curb
afternoon fatigue. The study found that napping for 15 to 20 minutes
prevented participants from nodding off in the afternoon more effectively
than drinking two cups of regular-strength coffee or getting an extra
90 minutes of sleep in the morning.

STILETTO DANGER
As if three-inch heels weren't hazardous enough to your ankles, they
might also put your handbag at risk. A new report says purse-snatchers
are targeting women who wear high heels. It's difficult to flee in
pumps, so muggers consider stiletto-clad women more vulnerable. The
report specifically cautioned against sporting stilettos while carrying
a large number of shopping bags.

GRIN WINS
Smiling can help you get away with murder, but only if you’re a woman.
According to recent findings, a woman who smiles appears more generous,
agreeable, extroverted, emotionally stable and attractive. The scientists
found that women are more suspicious of men who smile.

PIT SNIFFING
Want to attract more women? Throw away your deodorant. Women who
took 20 sniffs of a bottle containing components of male sweat experienced
surges in mood and sexual arousal within 15 minutes, according to
a study from the University of California, Berkeley.

MEN & MANNERS
Guys should mind their manners. Ninety-three percent of women polled
find a man’s manners are more important than his income. Sixty percent
of women say good manners make a man more attractive. And 12 percent
believe a guy with bad manners will also be bad in bed.

EATING IRONY
Food really is more delicious -- and harder to resist -- when you're
dieting. Hunger boosts the sensitivity of taste buds, intensifying
flavor, researchers found.

RESOLUTION KEEPING
It’s OK to break your New Year’s resolution in the first week, say
motivational experts, you just have to be willing to get back on the
horse. For many, January just isn’t the right time. Start fresh in
March, or June.

WORKOUT RELATIONSHIP
Experts say working out together can do wonders for your relationship
and your body. There is someone else there holding you accountable,
and chances are you will work out longer and harder than if you were
working out alone. And spending that extra time together every week
doesn't hurt. Couples workouts can be a new way to share time and connect.

LAYOFF HIDING
Losing your job hurts more than your pocketbook. It can do long term
damage even after you get another job. Employees who are laid off
even once are significantly less likely to engage in social activities
– book clubs, PTA meetings – for years afterward, a new study finds.

BLIND DATES
If you’re going out on a blind date, listen up: Since it's the first
time you're meeting a person, go out to lunch. The key to any blind
date is doing it during the day. You can bail without looking like
a jerk: You have a meeting to get to. After-work drinks are the next-best
option.
